Steve Helton's Accident Facts
Today was a great and wonderful day. At 3:33 PM I received a phone call from Steve Helton. His wife, Lisa's, cell number came up on my Caller ID and I expected her to speak when I said, hello! I can't tell you how shocked I was to hear Steve say, "Hey Johnny, this is Steve." I'm thankful that the Lord saw fit to answer our prayers. Steve's voice was weak because of the extended time on the vent. He said that he remembers pretty much everything but his body is weak. He has started rehab and said that he's determined to have a quick recovery from here on out. It was a very emotional conversation at times. He said, "You are the first person I have called." That was very humbling to me personally. Steve has been like a brother to me and I can't stess how thankful I am that he is better. Times like this can cause us to take inventory of our lives and consider what things are really important. If we do that, then something good can come from a bad situation. When bad things happen, it gives us the opportunity to do something good and change things for the better. Many of you have taken the opportunity to do good things for Steve and his family and the things you all have done have be much appreciated. The love and concern you all have expressed has been amazing. Please keep Steve and his family in your prayers and thoughts as he goes through rehabilitation.
Thanks to you all,
Johnny
Steve is now completely off of the ventilator and the Kidney Specialist says Steve's kidneys will begin to work again. He is speaking-in a whisper- to Lisa and she says his mind is strong. He will be going Monday to begin rehabilitation. He and his family are thankful for your prayers and support.

Steve is still in the Critical Care Unit. His situation has improved some but he is not out of the woods by any means. He is still on a ventilator and being semi-sedated. Once out of the Unit, he will have a very long road to recovery. The extent of the damage is still not completely known. Keep praying for him and his family.

The guy that hit Steve was drinking, no license and has a long criminal history-he's well know for his criminal activities by the law enforcement community in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. He was involved in a hit-and-run once before. Then, just as now, he claimed HE wasn't driving the vehicle. His girlfriend was.

I'm sorry to say that Steve Helton has been involved in a serious motorcycle accident-the night of the 28th. A guy driving a truck/suv clipped Steve's motorcycle causing the crash. The guy then left the scene-hit and run. He has severe head trauma and is in critical condition. Please keep He, Lisa, Taylor, and Bo in your prayers.
